Little House on the Prairie television show is a good source for ideas.

Recess:

We have many toys and other items of the 1800s for students to experience. No balls of any kind are needed; we are too close to the road.
In case of rainy weather, we have items for inside, too.

Lessons:

Textbooks, in use at the time, provide reading, math, spelling, language, and handwriting lessons.
Two state proficiency skills, a timeline, a compare-contrast exercise will be taught.
Paper, pencils, slates, and booklets will be provided.
Each student will receive a certificate.

Text Books:
A few or all of the following texts, as close to the original content as possible, are used:
       Harvey's Elementary Grammar and Composition
       McGuffey's Fourth Eclectic Reader
       McGuffey's Eclectic Spelling Book
       Ray's New Intellectual Arithmetic
